woke up early to go to the cub scouts parade for st george's day. wasn't really all that enthusiastic about it, and it looked like it might rain, but at least piet picked me up to go.
i think he loves to share his knowledge of things to do in london with me. but that means i learn a bit about the park and saw the lovely view over the richmond when you come out of the richmond gate of the park.
were there early with little coherent direction.
eventually that started. still feel super disconnected from the kids. but whatever.
eventually marched down the road to little spectators. well, minus everyone stuck in the stand still traffic because of it.
at the end they were launching 3 boats but most people had dispersed.
we went down to the river for the boat launch.
turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.
and then had some beers with other scout leaders.
one of the boats was a tug boat and piet suggested we try to get a ride on the tug.
so we did with a few other scouts.
they let the kids steer the boat, and then i got to drive the boat. was super fun.
didn't expect my sunday to be filled by those activities, but it was nice.
came home and baked a funfetti cake for steph's birthday, helped emily with her research, did some work, and then had game night for steph's birthday. delicious cake and brownies. sadly, the last box of funfetti cake mix though. so no more delicious american goodies anymore...
