this morning i went with stephanie to paint mugs. this sounded like a perfect activity for the morning. but after getting a local community library card and receiving my bank letter. i found that i was still not registered. still pending. i went to the library anyway, and i think because it was the same woman that she really just didn't want to see me again so she was able to make my id. her supervisor was in favor of it, and so they are my current roehampton heroes. i found that my bank letter was neither signed nor stamped (of course stephanie's was fine), so we went back to the welcome center and luckily they were able to fix that. although i am glad that i got a letter at all as i feared my registration problem would prevent that. so by the time we got to the digby chapel for pottery painting, there were no more mugs (and this was only halfway through the event time).
sister mary, who i just want to hug, warmly welcomed us to paint on paper. so having to make a name tag for my door anyway, i crafted my name out of what little paint we could scrape off of the leftovers from before. seeing that i was painting my name, sister mary invited me to join her for calligraphy tomorrow. harkening back to my elementary experience with mr. keepers, i tried to tell sister mary about how i can't do calligraphy because of my left-handedness. she would hear none of this and then apologized for not having a left-handed pen. she's so sweet that i think i will join her tomorrow for calligraphy and see what happens.
stephanie and i both agree about sister mary. and i've decided while i don't particularly need or seek out religious advice, i would like to hang out with sister mary. maybe just some tea to hear stories or have chats. what we think would be great is craft time with sister mary. i'm sure she'll be ecstatic tomorrow if i raise these ideas with her.
