did a bit of reading to keep the sunday-monday productive stretch going prior to class.
we had a grad student from last year present regarding cognitive psych (attention and whatnot). however, he chose to turn the lights off and have powerpoint slides with lots of tiny text. further, he read from the slides. i can't handle that. and he lost the attention of our entire class. i was a bit jealous of danny who was able to play on his iphone. and at one point i'm pretty sure fiona was napping. that was rough. subject matter was fine. the beginning video exercise was fine. but it gets dark early and got real dark and he literally read sentences off of the slides. ugh.
we did have a guy, ryan, from new york and going to school in jersey, join us for the day. he's deciding about roehampton and sheffield and whatnot. so he hung out with us between classes and that was fun. to have a different american to assist with his exploration of PoM courses.
evening class with david on developmental psych. only it seemed like he was phoning that one in. more about piaget, who we heard about last thursday. i think it just wasn't as interactive of a presentation as david usually does. just really him talking through it, which after our afternoon class was not that great. so sadly ryan didn't get to see the best of lectures.
but i did convince him (easily) to come to trivia instead of going straight back to his hostel. sadly, we tied for fourth. lots of hard questions. his "american" question thrown in for us was about utah's state flower. which ryan and i and steph guessed lilly and were right. so that was semi-exciting.
