tuesday

tuesday morning steph and i got up early to go into the city in search of ballet and theatre tickets. i also needed to get oboe reeds since that didnt happen on monday.

the fancy fancy woodwind store was neat. got two reeds. they work. so now i can play the oboe. although playing while sick after not playing in a long time is hard. and my lip hurts a bit from it- or less hurt as much as an indentation (i was surprised it wasnt bleeding after wednesday's rehearsal)

we then went to the ballet office, but they of course were sold out. we need to go the day of and wait and see. and the other place didn't have anthing available that worked with both of our schedules.

so then we walked to trafalgar square to see the giant trees exhibit.

and it was my intention to climb on top of the lion. now everyone has explained that this is difficult to do. but i was confident in my climbing abilities. However, this is like that hand in silver spring. i can't do it by myself. i need a little bit of a boost - not even an amazon tall person (which that hand requires), but the lions are a bit too slippery for me to do by myself. so that once again will have to wait. but I WILL climb them. for now, i'll settle with sitting in front, which still required scaling and climbing efforts.

then we went to nando's so i could try the deliciousness there. we were there upon opening but soon weren't the only customers. it is good. portuguese chicken with different sauces. mmm, a good lunch.

tuesday afternoon was a guest lecturer. he was from washington university in st louis. spoke about creativity and was very interesting.

tuesday evening was musical identities. interesting to hear different perspectives and see that while i'm really social in how i think about this stuff, others in the class really arent.

went to trivia. had a bigger group. we did well. lots of teams though so we were 3rd i think. but we had so many points. and got more of the pictures than usual. the pictograms were back but were a separate contest - still super tricky. mary drew a "tattoo" on my arm. good times.
