orchestra

stuck around after steel pan rehearsal (after a very productive morning of laundry, hostel booking, consent form forgery, international champion application writing, and emailing) to check out orchestra.
this orchestra will be quite small as there were only maybe 15 of us. but i really want to play.
and while the director is the one who made me drop out of the scholarship thing and was real fanatic about precision upon the sight read of yesterday, my desire to play the oboe again trumps that so it looks like i'll be looking for an oboe to rent.

sitting in rehearsal was good. an interesting experience to not have my horn but go along with rehearsal.

sat in the room while the "jazz band" rehearsed in between steel pans and orchestra. originally had debated seeing if i'd play in that too, but after witnessing that, i will not be having a part there. for one there were 4 saxs and a trombone. so it's not like they are hurting for a sax player. and for two, they weren't playing through any charts or anything. so that's not for me.

but orchestra is. and emily is going to play so that will be fun. and brittany too.
